ROSEMONT, ILLINOIS – Patrick Roussey II of Sturgis' Mayer Tool & Engineering, Inc., was named 2023 Mold Maker of the Year by the Society of Plastic Engineers Mold Technology Division.

Roussey II was the recipient of the award due to his lifelong commitment to the mold making and plastics industry. The award recognizes somebody in the mold making industry with exceptional knowledge, advanced technical capabilities, and contributions to the company and the entire community. Roussey was nominated by his team at Mayer Tool.

Roussey’s mold making journey began in 1996 at Mayer Tool, where he started as an apprentice at 24.  While training on the floor he learned the many facets of the trade. He soon worked his way through the shop from a full-time mold maker to shop foreman, project manager, and president before eventually buying the company in 2020.

With over a quarter-century spent in the industry, Roussey’s focus has always been on his customers and helping advance the future generation of mold makers. Roussey emphasizes providing educational and learning opportunities for younger men and women interested in joining the industry.

The SPE Mold Maker of the Year award was sponsored by HASCO America and includes a $1,000 donation to an industry training center chosen by the recipient. Roussey has elected to give the HASCO America donation to the local Sturgis High School (SHS) Manufacturing Program.

Roussey plans for Mayer Tool to partner with the SHS Manufacturing Program to design and build an injection mold from concept to sampling.

Roussey is honored to receive this award from SPE and hopes to continue to give back to the industry that has given him so much throughout the years.
