Patriot air defense and power transformers set as priority on Ukraine’s agenda

Kuleba emphasized that the number one topic for Ukraine will be efforts to protect the country’s power grid against Russian attacks.
“The number one topic will be the energy system of Ukraine,” said Kuleba.
“I think this will be the first NATO ministerial meeting where energy and weapons issues will be given equal attention. I will have a meeting with G7 ministers, which will also be dedicated to energy issues. Partners are well aware of our needs. Therefore, today we will not talk about what we need, but we will discuss the specific dates and volumes of these supplies.”

The minister also explained that it makes no sense for Ukraine to focus just one air defense, as the energy system needs to be not only protected, but also repaired.

“My two key words at this meeting are Patriots and transformers; there is no point in focusing on one thing; (we must) repair and protect,” Kuleba said.
On Nov. 29-30, a NATO summit was held in Bucharest, Romania. Foreign ministers of allied member states gathered in the same city where Ukraine and Georgia were confirmed to become NATO members, back in 2008. Ultimately, neither country was given the NATO Membership Action Plan.
