New England Patriots running back Sony Michel dealt with injury problems last season. The former first-round pick missed seven weeks due to injuries and time on the COVID-19 list. During that time, Damion Harris settled into the starting role for New England.

Michel rushed for 2,292 yards during a Patriots career that has spanned three seasons. His most productive season was his rookie year of 2018, when he went for 931 yards and six touchdowns.

Despite the adversity, he indicated to reporters on Saturday that it has made him become a better player and in turn has taught him how to bounce back from the setbacks.

“It made me a better player, a better person, especially knowing how to take care of your body, trying to get your body back to where it was, if not even better,” Michel said. “And being a better person, and knowing how to deal with a little bit of adversity and trying to come back from some of those little setbacks.”

“Injuries come and go. It comes with the profession. It comes with the game,” Michel said. “I take the good with the bad. I appreciate it. It helps me learn what I have to do to be a professional and that’s what I did.”

The 26-year-old former Georgia star looks to rebound from a season that saw him record only 449 yards and a touchdown. With a crowded running back room, this could be his chance to make himself stand out from the rest of the pack once again.
