Patrol identifies Hazen, ND, woman killed in hit-and-run crash

Jul. 14—TOWER CITY, N.D. — The North Dakota Highway Patrol has identified the 42-year-old Hazen, North Dakota, woman who was killed in a hit-and-run crash Tuesday, July 12, near Tower City.

Christina Anderson died from injuries sustained in the crash. She was pronounced dead on scene.

Wyatt Staloch, 26, Jamestown, was arrested Tuesday for leaving the scene of a fatal crash, a Class B felony, the patrol said. He was transported to the Stutsman County Correctional Center and later released.

Kimberly Bennett, 46, Hazen, was driving a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 towing an empty U-Haul flatbed car trailer at about 4:10 a.m. Tuesday in the westbound lane of Interstate 94 near the Oriska rest area, the patrol said. Anderson and a 14-year-old girl from Hazen were passengers in the Dodge.

Staloch, who was driving a 2017 GMC Sierra rear-ended the trailer, causing the Dodge and trailer to enter the median and roll, the patrol said.

The 14-year-old girl, who was not wearing her seat belt and was ejected, and Bennett were transported to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo to be treated for their injuries.

The patrol is investigating the crash.
