Patterson chosen CVAC's best

Mar. 7—GAMEWELL — Jordan Patterson, West Caldwell's rising sophomore star, has been selected the Catawba Valley Athletic Conference Basketball Player of the Year by the league's coaches.

The 6-foot-1 Patterson averaged 16.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.7 steals per game for the CVAC champion Warriors.

Malek Patterson and Mason Anthony, West seniors, were selected to the all-conference team.

Malek Patterson hit 19.2 ppg., as a member of the program's 1,000-point club, while also delivering 7.8 rpg., 2.8 apg. and 2.0 spg.. Anthony averaged 8.3 ppg., 7.0 rpg. And 2.8 spg.

Billy Anderson is the CVAC Coach of the Year after guiding the Warriors to their second straight CVAC regular-season and tournament championships and a pair of Class 2A West Region state playoff victories.

West sophomore Zion Thomas was selected honorable mention (10.8 ppg., 3.9 asp. 2.3 spg.)
