Patti LaBelle sings at Mohegan Sun on Sunday

Jun. 15—Remember back in 2015, when the big food news was that Patti LaBelle was selling one of her sweet potato pies every two seconds at Walmart?

Ah, good times.

While LaBelle might be an excellent chef/entrepreneur, she is also — surprise — a hell of a singer. She is, after all, the Godmother of Soul. Her voice is otherworldly in its range and emotion.

And at age 78 (her birthday was last month), she can still belt with the best of them. She'll be doing just that when she sings in concert Sunday at Mohegan Sun.
