Paul McCartney, Yoko Ono honor John Lennon on what would be his 81st birthday

They say it’s your birthday.

Paul McCartney and Yoko Ono on Saturday celebrated John Lennon on what would have been the Beatles alum’s 81st birthday.

“Happy Birthday thoughts for @johnlennon - Paul,” McCartney, 79, tweeted alongside a black and white image of the pair holding guitars beneath their chins.

Sean Lennon, the singer-songwriter’s son with Ono, 88, also celebrated his birthday Saturday, turning 46.

“Happy Birthday John! Happy Birthday Sean! I love you! yoko,” Ono tweeted with a photo of the father-son duo blowing out birthday candles.

In addition to birthday tributes from fans and music journalists alike, the official Twitter account for Central Park honored the late musician with a photo from Ono.

“Happy birthday, John Lennon! #OTD in 1985, Central Park’s Strawberry Fields memorial was dedicated to the Beatles legend & peace activist. Lennon would often enjoy walks in this landscape,” tweeted the park.

Sean Lennon on Saturday also took to Instagram with nine photos, each making up a different part of a singular image from when he was 6 years old, donning a paper birthday crown.

John Lennon was fatally shot on Dec. 8, 1980 outside his residence at New York City’s The Dakota.

Both McCartney and fellow former Beatle Ringo Starr took to Twitter last year on the 40th anniversary, both sharing photos of themselves with their late bandmate.

“A sad sad day but remembering my friend John with the great joy he brought to the world,” McCartney wrote at the time. “I will always be proud and happy to have known and worked with this incredible Scouser!”

“Tuesday, 8 December 1980 we all had to say goodbye to John peace and love John. I’m asking. Every music radio station in the world sometime today play Strawberry Fields Forever. Peace and love,” tweeted Starr, 81.
