Motorists should look for improvements soon to two of the major streets that run through downtown Kent.

Paving is scheduled to be done on South Water Street from Haymaker Parkway to Main Street, and on Main Street from Mantua Street to just west of Willow Street.

The work will include milling, resurfacing, railroad crossing and curb repairs, accessible ramps, catch basin repairs and new pavement markings. Work is expected to begin the week of June 6 and should take 60 days to complete. Weather or other factors could delay the completion date.

While traffic will be maintained as much as possible, there will be scheduled road closures during the milling, railroad crossing repair and paving work. Road closure locations may vary. Updates on the project will be sent to downtown business owners and posted to the City of Kent’s social media.
