This Pawleys Island Mexican restaurant is closing in November. Will they re-open?

A Pawleys Island restaurant will soon cease serving food at least for the time being.

Sol Cocina Mexicano will close at the end of November, Chef Armando Cobian said in an interview with The Sun News.

Sol Cocina Mexicano is located at 12036 Ocean Highway near Pawleys Island.

The restaurant, which has been open for five years as of this September, is looking to move to a new space, Cobian said. Cobian added the restaurant is looking to move because the rent at their current location was too high.

The restaurant does not have a new set location yet, but Cobian said they are looking at either re-opening on Pawleys Island or moving to Market Common.

“I cook because that’s who I’m meant to be,” he added. “I want to be in a place we can enjoy,”

Per the name, Sol Cocina specializes in Mexican food. The eatery offers customers dishes such as tacos, enchiladas and quesadillas.

Other menu items include carne asada 14-ounce ribeye steak, sauteed beef tenderloin with plantains, ceviches and many other options.
