Pay delayed for Clovis schools employees

Feb. 3—Clovis Municipal Schools personnel who receive their paychecks via direct deposit on the 15th and 30th each month didn't get paid as expected Tuesday morning.

"Unfortunately, due to an unforeseen technical glitch at the bank, direct deposits have experienced a slight delay in arriving as promptly as usual," CMS Superintendent Renee Russ wrote in an email to The News

CMS employees were paid later Tuesday, she said.

Citizens Bank President Kent Carruthers said an oversight at the bank led to the delay.

"We had an employee who was out of the office and her backup person failed to send the required file ... It was an unfortunate oversight," Carruthers said.

"We have apologized for this incident."

The schools' finance department "took immediate action upon realizing the issue, promptly notifying the bank and establishing a collaborative effort to rectify the situation," Russ said.

"Continuous updates have been disseminated internally to our employees throughout the day, beginning as early as 7 a.m. The District has maintained open lines of communication out of a commitment to keeping our workforce informed about the ongoing resolution process," Russ wrote.
