The State Fair of Texas is almost here and with it comes the rides, food and drinks.

The 137th running of the fair will be held from Sept. 29 to Oct. 22. The 24 consecutive days of fun are all held at Fair Park in Dallas at 3809 Grand Ave.

While the fair has plenty for families to do, only one type of currency is accepted on the fairgrounds. Here’s what we know:

How do you pay for food and rides at the Texas State Fair?

Food, drinks, games and rides are all paid for with coupons.

One coupon is equivalent to $1 and patrons can purchase them around the fairgrounds at numerous booths. Coupons can also be purchased online via State Fair ticket packages.

In the past, fair attendees used game cards to play games at the Midway area. However, this year patrons will use coupons to play games.

But don’t fret if you have leftover money on your Midway game card. Guests are allowed to exchange the game card for coupons at booths around the fairgrounds.

Also, do not throw away coupons you may have from previous fairs. They will be accepted in this year’s fair.
