The Payback: James Brown Turkey Giveaway announces registration dates for families in need

Three registration dates have been announced for participants in Augusta's annual James Brown Turkey Giveaway in November.

People wishing to register for the giveaway can visit May Park, 622 Fourth St., from 9 to 11 a.m. Oct. 29, Nov. 5 and 12. Registrants must present a valid state ID, utility bill or lease agreement to giveaway organizers.

The turkeys will be distributed in the parking lot of James Brown Arena, 601 Seventh St., at 8 a.m. Nov. 21.

The legendary singer began the turkey giveaways to families in need in 1993. The event continued through the James Brown Family Foundation after Brown's death in 2006.
