Three new COVID-19 testing sites opened this week in Palm Beach County to help ease the burden on other facilities, announced local Jewish faith leaders.

“Our mission is to build community, and being able to again serve our neighbors in a time of need is exactly what we strive to do each day," said Jesse Rosen, President & CEO of the Mandel JCC, in a press release. "We are thrilled to be able to our small part in helping people not have to wait in line for hours, quickly get results and help them get back to normal faster.”

The Mandel JCC of the Palm Beaches will be testing at its Palm Beach Gardens location, the Chabad of Jupiter and the Jewish Community Synagogue in North Palm Beach will each host COVID-19 testing site outside at their facilities. They also will offer for free thousands of COVID-19 at-home test kits.

Walk-in PCR testing and rapid antigen testing is available at each site from 9:30 a.m. until 5:30.p.m. There will also be a limited supply of at-home test kits available. Valid identification is required and testing is free for those without insurance.

Appointments are encouraged and may be made online via:

“People are so desperate to get tested that when we were able to organize this arrangement, they were so grateful," Rabbi Leib Ezagui of the Jewish Community Synagogue said in the press release. "We hope to continue having the on-site testing available and handing out at-home kits as long as there is a need.”

New coronavirus cases dropped in Florida in the week ending Sunday, dipping by 3.4% as 408,841 cases were reported. The previous week had 423,150 new cases of the virus that causes COVID-19.

Florida now ranks 11th among the states where coronavirus was spreading the fastest on a per-person basis, a USA TODAY Network analysis of Johns Hopkins University data shows.
