PCM boys golf takes third at DMC, girls lose to Pleasantville

Apr. 18—GRANGER — Andrew Mitchell fired an 84, Grant Van Veen carded an 89 and PCM's boys golf team took third in a six-team field at Jester Park on Thursday.

The Mustangs shot a 359 on the par-72 golf course. Host Des Moines Christian won the meet with a 342 and Panorama shot a 346.

The rest of the field included Greene County (366), Coon Rapids-Bayard (390) and Earlham (400).

Des Moines Christian's Jake Weissenburger shot a 76 to win medalist honors. Panorama's Wyatt Appleseth (83) was one stroke better than Mitchell to finish as the runner-up.

Mitchell's card included a 41 on the front nine and a 43 on the back nine. Van Veen's 89 included a 42 and a 47.

Gatlin Boell had a 47 and a 44 for an 18-hole score of 91. Gabe Lanphier carded a 93 as the final counting score. Grant Landgrebe (98) and Brian Nicholson (107) had non-counting scores.

"We are improving," PCM boys golf coach Mike Cardin said. "The temperature was a little colder but the wind was down from what we had been used to playing in. I am looking forward to our next couple of meets."

Mustangs lose head-to-head battle with Pleasantville

PLEASANTVILLE — PCM's girls golf team had two personal-record scores during a road loss to Pleasantville on Tuesday.

The Mustangs shot a 277 in the loss. Eleigh Davis had a personal-best score of 58 to lead PCM, while Tori Peterson shot a personal-best 65.

Riley Johannes (75) and Deanna McHargue (79) had the other two scores for the Mustangs.

"The girls did a great job in their second meet of the season," PCM girls coach Dylan Dunn said. "I have seen lots of improvements from the start of the year. Pleasantville has a strong team."
