PCSO: Woman, 76, dies during vehicle test drive in Winter Haven

A crash during a test drive of a vehicle from a Winter Haven dealership left a Davenport woman dead on Saturday.

Jean Worme, 76, was a passenger in a 2023 Nissan Rogue being test-driven from Hill Nissan by Clifford Worme, 86, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office reported. The driver was returning to the dealership at about 5:42 p.m. when he turned left and crossed into the path of a 2007 Nissan Murano traveling westbound on Cypress Gardens Boulevard, according to PCSO.

Clifford Worme suffered minor injuries, while the rear passenger in the Nissan Rogue, a Hill Nissan sales representative, and the driver of the Nissan Murano were not injured, PCSO reported. All involved in the crash were wearing seatbelts.

The westbound lanes of Cypress Gardens Boulevard were closed for about four hours. The investigation is ongoing, PCSO reported.
