MADERA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Officers with the City of Madera Police Department have arrested two people for what they say is to remove dangerous weapons and offenders off the street.
Officers say they conducted the vehicle check in the area of Pomegranate and Hacienda St.
Police say they contacted and arrested 21-year-old Guillermo Guzman-Torres after a vehicle check where he was found in possession of an assault rifle. He was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of several weapons charges.
Police say they then arrested 43-year-old Matthew Brown after conducting another vehicle check in the area of G St. and 4th St.
Officers say Brown was found to be in possession of a firearm and narcotics for sale. Brown is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing firearms. He was arrested and booked on suspicion of multiple charges, including his warrants.
According to police, Bown was wanted on multiple warrants out of Fresno and Madera County.
