PD: Woman hospitalized in domestic violence incident in Clovis

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A woman was taken to a local hospital with critical injuries after she was shot in a domestic violence incident that occurred at home in Clovis Tuesday morning, according to the Clovis Police Department.

Around 7:45 a.m., officers responded to the area of Clovis and Teague avenues, regarding a call to check on a female.

When officers arrived, they located a female inside the home who was shot and had multiple injuries. Police say she was transported to a local hospital and is in critical condition.

Officers say there was some sort of domestic violence incident that occurred.

According to officials, they believe the suspect and the victim were either married or in a dating relationship.

Officers say they tracked the suspect down to an apartment complex near Dakota and Hughes in Fresno.

The suspect surrendered peacefully and is in custody. Officers say a five-year-old child was with the suspect in the apartment and is currently safe with police.

At this time there is no information on the child’s relationship to the man or the woman who was shot and if the child was abducted.
