Peaceful protest held on South Highland for victims of car accident

There was a peaceful protest on South Highland street Saturday afternoon for victims of a car accident.

The family is looking for justice for two young adults, Sasha and Ali, who died in a traffic accident on Oct. 16, 2021.

Police said on Oct. 16, 2021 at 10:35 p.m. a sergeant responded to a fatal pedestrian car crash at Hickory Hill Rd that left two people dead.

MPD said one of the car’s involved was sitting still in the street near the turning lane from a previous crash.

Pedestrians one, two, and three came to the scene to check on their friends from car two, police said.

The driver of car two and all three pedestrians were standing in the turning lane talking to the occupants of car two, MPD said.

According to police, the driver of car one then was traveling southbound on Hickory Hill and saw the parked wrecked car and tried to swerve but struck car two with its right front to car two′s left front.

Police said the driver of car one also collided with all the pedestrians that were standing in the turning lane.

According to MPD, pedestrian one was pronounced dead on the scene after showing no signs of life by paramedics.

Pedestrians two and three were both transported to Regional One in critical condition, police said.

MPD said the owner of car two, also was pedestrian four that was struck; he was transported to Regional One in non-critical condition.

Pedestrian two was pronounced dead at the hospital later the same day on Oct, 17 2021, police said.

MPD said on Jan. 25, 2022, police received the drug test results. Both decedents had negative results for drugs or alcohol.
