A new Peaky Blinders season 5 clip hints that Tommy Shelby’s son could face a tragic comeuppance for his father's crimes.

The BBC series starts again on Sunday 25 August, picking up a few years after Tommy dispatched of Luca Changretta and was named Labour MP for Birmingham South.

His new political power hasn’t scared off his enemies, however. If anything, they’ve only grown in number and determination. What's more, it looks like they've located the Shelby boss' greatest weakness.

In the three-minute clip, Tommy finds a note underneath a mysterious scarecrow that has appeared on his property, which reads: ‘Look down on earth and see the seeds you have sown.’

He discovers a landmine, and for a few shaky, self-destructive moments considers punching it. But then the voice of his son Charlie calls in the distance, and the clip cuts out.

Will his son fall victim to the landmines, or one of the mysterious villain’s other traps? The latter falls in line with a fan theory drawn from the full trailer, in which Tommy is seen cradling a small body in the aftermath of a car explosion.

We’ll have to wait and see. Until then, have a read about everything we know about the season so far.
