Peaky Blinders season 5's release date has FINALLY been confirmed – break out the whisky as it's coming very soon.

Tommy Shelby and family will be slow-mo walking back onto our screens on Sunday, August 25 at 9pm for episode 1's premiere.

As we know, Peaky Blinders is moving from BBC Two to BBC One as it tackles the fallout from the Wall Street Crash, a new Scottish razor gang and the rise of fascism in the shape of real-life politician Oswald Mosley (Sam Claflin).

Peaky Blinders season 4 came to Netflix on December 19, 2018 – a year after it aired on the BBC, so subscribers will likely have to wait a while before getting this series, especially with news that iPlayer will now host shows for a year after broadcast.

The official plot synopsis reads: "Series five of Steven Knight's crime family saga finds the world thrown into turmoil by the financial crash of 1929. Opportunity and misfortune are everywhere.

"When Tommy Shelby MP (Cillian Murphy) is approached by a charismatic politician with a bold vision for Britain, he realises that his response will affect not just his family's future but that of the entire nation."
