Pearl S. Buck International will host its first Octoberfest celebration 1 to 5 p.m. Oct. 23 at the Pearl S. Buck Estate, 520 Dublin Road, Hilltown.

“Octoberfest is a celebration for all our friends, families, and neighbors, a community, family-friendly, and fun-filled event,” Pearl S. Buck spokeswoman Mary Hall said. “In addition, this fundraising afternoon will help support the humanitarian, cross-cultural, and educational work and mission of Pearl S. Buck International.

The event will feature food trucks, including Cousins Maine Lobster, a biergarten with selections from Neshaminy Creek Brewing, Stateside Vodka, and Cardinal Hollow Winery; activities for children, live music, vendors and free tours of the house, a National Historic Landmark.

Tickets are $20 a carload.

The organization has been part of the Upper Bucks Community since 1964 and is looking “to go out into the community, reintroduce ourselves to our neighbors, and invite them to visit us and see what we’re all about,” Hall said.

Clothes, home items, coffee and sweets will also be available for sale. Live music will be provided by The Mike and Brian Project and Alex Buono Music. The gift shop will be open.

“All proceeds from this event will benefit the humanitarian, cross-cultural and educational work and mission of Pearl S. Bucks International,” Hall said.

Buck, who won both the Nobel and Pulitzer prizes, was born in the United States but raised by her missionary parents in China and developed a lifelong interest in promoting cross cultural learning and helping biracial children. Pearl S. Buck International now continues her work and legacy.
