Pecatonica man dies in two-vehicle crash in Stephenson County
A Pecatonica man died in a two-vehicle crash Friday morning in Stephenson County.
According to Illinois State Police, Ronald Zissler, 79, of Pecatonica, was traveling north on Klinger Road and Timothy Horcher, 59, of Rock City, was traveling east on U.S. 20 about 10:48 a.m. in Stephenson County when the two vehicles collided.
Zissler, who was driving a 2006 Chrysler Town & Country, did not yield to Horcher, who was driving a 2012 Dodge Ram, and tried to cross the eastbound lane of U.S. 20, police said in a news release issued Saturday afternoon.
Police said, according to its preliminary investigation, Horcher was unable to stop and struck the driver's side door of Zissler's vehicle. Zissler was pronounced dead.
Heather Horcher, 57, of Rock City, was a passenger in the Dodge Ram. She was taken to a local hospital with injuries.
