Pedestrian, 65, fatally struck crossing Bronx expressway

A 65-year-old pedestrian was fatally struck trying to cross a Bronx expressway early Tuesday, police said.

The victim was traversing the northbound lanes of the Cross Bronx Expressway on foot near Allerton Ave. when a driver crashed into him about 5:30 a.m., cops said.

The man died at the scene. His name was not immediately released.

The driver remained at the scene. He faced no immediate charges.

All northbound lanes were shut down as police investigated the incident, causing a massive traffic snarl.
