Less than a week after a pedestrian died after being struck by two passing motorists in Apple Valley, Victorville resident Adan Villanueva, 41, was fatally struck by a vehicle while also walking in town, the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office reported.

At 8:29 p.m. Saturday, Apple Valley Sheriff Station deputies, the Apple Valley Fire Protection District, and American Medical Response responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle near the intersection of Navajo at Ojai roads.

Online maps show the collision area between Ottawa and Nisqually roads, just north of Bear Valley Road.

When deputies arrived, they determined a white GMC Terrain had traveled south on Navajo Road and approached Ojai Road when it struck a pedestrian, later identified as Villanueva, who was walking westbound across Navajo Road in the number one southbound lane, the sheriff’s report said.

Pedestrian death on Nov. 16

The pedestrian fatality on Saturday was the second of its kind in Apple Valley over the last week.

On Tuesday, Nov. 16, Nicholas Dooley, 25, of Apple Valley, died after being struck by two vehicles while walking after dark in the 16000 block of Dale Evans Parkway in Apple Valley, according to sheriff’s officials.

Apple Valley Sheriff’s deputies determined a white Chevrolet truck was traveling north on Dale Evans Parkway approaching Quantico Road when it struck Dooley, who was walking in the northbound lane of the same roadway.

Witnesses told deputies that a white sedan, possibly a Toyota Camry, was northbound on Dale Evans Parkway when it also struck Dooley in the roadway.

Dooley suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene, authorities said.

The driver of the Chevrolet was uninjured and remained at the scene to cooperate with investigators who are seeking a non-criminal statement and information from the driver of the Toyota Camry.

Anyone with information or anyone who may have witnessed or was possibly involved in the collision on Nov 16 is asked to contact Deputy R. Grissom at the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station at 760-240-7400 of Sheriff’s Dispatch at 760-956-5001.
