Pedestrian dies after being hit by tow truck, New Haven police say

A tow truck struck and killed a pedestrian in New Haven early Thursday, police said.

The man was hit shortly after 1 a.m. in the intersection of Ella T. Grasso Boulevard and Lamberton Street, Capt. Anthony Duff said. The tow truck driver stayed at the scene.

The injured man was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to Duff.

The New Haven police Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating. Anyone with information they may help investigators is asked to call police at 203-946-6316.
