Pedestrian dies after being struck by vehicle in Wethersfield, police say

A person died Friday night after being struck by a vehicle on the Silas Deane Highway in Wethersfield, police said.

According to Wethersfield Police, the department received numerous 911 calls around 9 p.m. Friday reporting a person had been hit by a vehicle on the Silas Deane, just north of Nott Street. Emergency personnel arrived at the scene, near 318 Silas Deane Highway, and found the person lying in the road unconscious.

He was taken to Hartford Hospital, where he later died, police said.

The driver reportedly stayed at the scene and is cooperating with police.

The male appeared to have been crossing the road when he was struck, a preliminary police investigation shows.
