Pedestrian dies following injuries from hit-and-run, driver remains at large

A Springfield woman died this week after being critically injured in a hit-and-run March 6.

Donna Campbell, 42, was crossing westbound across Kansas Expressway, near the McDonald Access Road, when a northbound dark-colored pickup truck hit her, according to Springfield Police Department.

Campbell was taken to an area hospital with critical injuries. She died from her injuries March 21. Her family has been notified.

The driver of the truck has not yet been identified, and the crash remains under investigation.

This is Springfield’s eighth traffic fatality in 2023.
