Pedestrian dies after vehicle crash in St. Lucie County

ST. LUCIE COUNTY — A person died after a Thursday night traffic crash in the area of U.S. 1 and Prima Vista Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol on Friday.

The person who died was a pedestrian of unknown age or gender, Lt. Indiana Miranda, FHP spokesperson, stated via email.

The crash was reported at 7:44 p.m. and involved a blue 2015 Chevrolet Camaro driven by a 51-year-old woman, according to Miranda.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead by a doctor at 9:36 p.m. while in surgery.

Miranda said the circumstances of the crash are under investigation and the pedestrian is not identified. She did not know what direction the Camaro was traveling or on which road.

She said the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office asked FHP to investigate the crash because of the “extent of injuries.”

No other information was available Friday.
