Elderly man identified in Affton fatal hit and run

AFFTON, Mo. – A vehicle struck and killed a 74-year-old man Monday evening in St. Louis County.

According to a spokesperson with the St. Louis County Police Department, officers responded to a call around 7:15 p.m. for a crash at Mackenzie Road and Alpine Drive. When officers arrived, they found a man who’d been struck by a car.

The victim, William Starr, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver left the scene of the crash.

Investigators learned Starr was walking southbound on Mackenzie Road when he was hit.
