Pedestrian fatally hit by car in Manatee County

A pedestrian died after being hit by a car in Manatee County early Tuesday morning.

A 46-year-old Bradenton man driving a Buick sedan hit a 42-year-old pedestrian at the intersection of 15th Street East and 55th Avenue Drive East. The pedestrian was walking within the roadway when he was hit by the front left of the car at 5:27 a.m., according to a written report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

He came to rest on the southbound travel lane of 15th Street East and was pronounced dead by Manatee County EMS at the scene of the crash, according to the report.

The Florida Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating the crash.
