VANESSA VASCONCELOS: That breaking news is out of west central Fresno, where CHP has shut down southbound lanes of traffic on Highway 99. Let's get a live look at our traffic tracker. You can see the crash has caused some heavy congestion on the southbound side of Highway 99 at Belmont Avenue. Now, the call came in sometime around 6 o'clock this morning, but CHP officers haven't provided any details on the crash or shared when those lanes may reopen.

A look outside using one of our Caltrans cameras set up at Highway 99 and Belmont shows this shot from just minutes ago. And you can see just how clear those southbound lanes are because of that closure. CHP officers are asking drivers to avoid the area if you are headed toward the southern parts of Fresno this morning. We're continuing to monitor this crash, and we'll let you know when officers make some progress in getting those lanes reopened. But again, you'll want to be mindful. Give yourself plenty of extra time if you are hitting the road, because there is going to be a backup because of that closure.
