Pedestrian hit, killed on Interstate 95 in Lumberton, police say

LUMBERTON, N.C. (WBTW) — A man was hit and killed Wednesday afternoon while walking across Interstate 95 between the 19- and 20-mile marker, according to Lumberton police.

The man was leaving the median when he was hit by a Jeep Cherokee. He died later at UNC Health Southeastern in Lumberton, police said. A couple in the Jeep from Raleigh, North Carolina, was not hurt.

Authorities have not released the victim’s name. The investigation is ongoing.
