Man hit, killed by minivan while walking across highway in Statesville, police say
A man died after he was hit by a minivan on a highway in Statesville on Saturday night, police say.
Statesville police said Stephen Thomas Hart, 49, was walking across Taylorsville Highway around 11 p.m. when he was hit by a 2006 Chrysler Town & Country.

Officers said Iredell County EMS was already on the scene when they arrived and tried to save the man, but he later died at the scene.
The Statesville Police Department Traffic Division is investigating the crash and is asking anyone with information to contact them at 704-878-3406.
