Pedestrian killed in vehicle accident on Ambassador identified

UPDATE (2/6)– The victim has been identified as Wilton S. Miller, 62 of Alexandria.

Authorities say a preliminary investigation showed the pedestrian that was killed was walking in the inside lane of Ambassador Caffery Parkway when they were hit. Officials say he died at the scene. The driver of the car was cited for safety belt and window tint violations. Authorities say they tested negative for alcohol.

ORGINAL STORY (2/5)— LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — A pedestrian has died in a vehicle accident on Ambassador Caffery Parkway, according to the Lafayette Police Department.

LPD said they are currently on the scene of a vehicle accident involving a pedestrian on the 3600 block of Ambassador Caffery Parkway. Officials said a preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle hit a pedestrian in the roadway of Ambassador.

Traffic investigators are actively investigating the incidents that led up to the accident. Updates will provided as more information becomes available.

The 3600 block of Ambassador Caffery Parkway will be closed for normal flow of traffic for at least two hours. Motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route of travel.
