A 56-year-old Fort Lauderdale woman has died in the hospital about two weeks after being hit by an SUV and having a leg amputated.

A 2003 Dodge Durango struck Terri A. Tayce about 2:10 p.m. Feb. 18 as she was walking north across West Prospect Road in Oakland Park, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.

Edward A. Mann, 63, of Fort Lauderdale, was driving east approaching Northwest 10th Avenue when Tayce stepped into the path of the Dodge, investigators said.

Tayce was taken to Broward Health Medical Center where she underwent surgery to remove her leg. She remained in the hospital recuperating but died on Sunday.

Mann remained at the scene of the crash and cooperated with investigators. No charges have been filed in the case.
