A Nebraska woman died Friday, a day after she was hit by a car while walking on a sidewalk in Tuscaloosa.

Charlotte Wallin, 45, of Imperial, Nebraska, was walking west on a sidewalk along Jack Warner Parkway about 7 p.m. Thursday when she was struck by a car.

Police said a 30-year-old Tuscaloosa woman driving east apparently lost control of a 1999 Buick Century, and the car veered onto the sidewalk between Marrs Spring Road and Hackberry Lane.

The car hit Wallin, crossed the median and came to a stop in the westbound lanes of Jack Warner Parkway.

The driver remained on scene and cooperated with investigators from a Tuscaloosa police accident reconstruction unit.

Wallin was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center and then airlifted to UAB Hospital in Birmingham. Police said Wallin was taken off life support about 5 p.m. Friday.
