Pedestrian seriously injured after getting hit by car in Cary, police say

A person was hit by a car and critically injured Monday evening in a residential area off Southeast Cary Parkway, according to town police.

The person was hit about 6:13 p.m. at the corner of Macie Street and Lochmere Drive, according to police spokesman Lt. John Reeves. The intersection is where Lochmere turns into Piney Plains Road.

Reeves said the pedestrian was an adult but provided no other information. The person was taken to a hospital with “critical injuries,” he wrote.

The intersection was still closed at 7 p.m. while police conducted an investigation into what caused the crash.
