Pedestrian struck in hit-and-run crash at crosswalk in Red Lion: state police

A pedestrian suffered "suspected serious injuries" after being struck by a vehicle while she was in a crosswalk in Red Lion, according to a Pennsylvania State Police news release.

The pedestrian, Leah Cotterman, was taken to WellSpan York Hospital for treatment and underwent surgery for her injuries, state police said.

The driver of the vehicle stopped to make sure she was still alive and then left the scene of the crash, state police said.

The hit-and-run crash happened around 7:40 p.m. Oct. 5 on West Broadway at the intersection with North Franklin Street, state police said. Police put out a news release on the incident this week.

The driver was heading eastbound on West Broadway at a high rate of speed and turned onto North Franklin Street, striking Cotterman who was in the crosswalk. The impact pushed Cotterman, and she fell about 5 feet from the crosswalk, landing on her back, state police said.
