Pedestrian killed in west side crash involving multiple vehicles, police say

A pedestrian was killed near the border of South Cumminsville and North Fairmount Friday evening, according to Cincinnati police.

Officers responded to the 1500 block of Hopple Street near Beekman Avenue around 8:42 p.m. to investigate the crash, police said in a news release.

Investigators determined the driver of a 2014 Ford C-Max was westbound on Hopple Street when he struck the pedestrian, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials have yet to release the victim's identity.

Police said additional vehicles are believed to have been involved in the crash and those drivers should come forward.

Witnesses are urged to contact the Cincinnati Police Department's traffic unit at 513-352-2514.

This marks the third time in two days that a pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle in the southwest Ohio region.

The other two incidents happened on Thursday, with the first involving an 87-year-old woman who was killed after she was hit by a Metro bus in Hyde Park. The second involved a 33-year-old woman who was killed in a pedestrian crash in Adams County.
