Pedestrian struck and killed in MW

Feb. 25—MINERAL WELLS — Police are investigating an incident Friday night during which a man was struck and killed by a vehicle.

Mineral Wells police and fire responded to the scene around 8:30 p.m. in the 2600 block of U.S. Highway 281 north after a report of a pedestrian-vehicle accident.

Officers located a single vehicle that struck a man believed to have been crossing the roadway, and Mineral Wells Fire/EMS began treating the 23-year-old.

The man was transported via EMS to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Police said the driver remained on scene and attempted to render aid, while being fully cooperative with the investigation. No charges are expected to be filed at this time, MWPD Chief Tim Dennison said, but the investigation remains ongoing.
