Pedestrian struck and killed by vehicle while crossing Eastern Boulevard on Monday

A pedestrian was killed Monday night while crossing Eastern Boulevard, the Fayetteville Police Department said.

Police said the pedestrian, whose name was not released, was crossing the street about 7 p.m. when the individual was struck by a silver Acura driven by Tammy Davis, 56, of Parkton. Davis reportedly had a green light when she collided with the pedestrian, police said. The accident happened near Owen Drive, according to Sgt. Alpha Caldwell.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, according to the release.

The police department's Traffic Unit is investigating.
