Pedestrian struck by vehicle and killed in Chenango County

A Chenango County woman was killed Monday when she was struck by a motor vehicle in the Town of Sherburne.

Norwich-based New York State Police said Megan E. Mikalunas, 30, of North Norwich, was struck by a westbound sedan at about 6 p.m. as she stood on state Route 80 near Rexford Falls.

The driver of the vehicle, a 57-year-old from Oneida, immediately stopped and flagged down another vehicle to call 911, State Police said.

Troopers said Mikalunas, who was wearing dark clothing, was pronounced dead at the scene.
