A 36-year-old Bremerton man was struck by a Chevy Blazer and killed late Wednesday night as he was walking down the middle of the highway outside Port Orchard.

The victim was walking in the westbound lane of Highway 166 just before midnight at milepost 1, where the highway begins to enter Port Orchard, according to a state patrol memo. The Blazer, driven by a 59-year-old man, was driving west and struck the pedestrian in his lane at 11:50 p.m., according to WSP.

The 36-year-old man was deceased at the scene. His name was not released by Washington State Patrol, pending notification of next of kin. The driver was not injured.

It was the second death of a pedestrian in Port Orchard in the past week, after a 33-year-old man was killed on Mile Hill Drive after being hit by two vehicles late at night on Thursday.
