Update, January 17, 2020 10:54 a.m.: Once again, Peeps Cereal is back on shelves in the middle of winter to remind us that yes, spring is around to corner and, yes, so are adorable animal-shaped marshmallows.

The cereal was once again spotted by MnmTwinz at Target and the duo gave us their review. They suggested mixing it in with another cereal to get a really cool effect so, what are we trying here, team? Peeps Cereal and Lucky Charms? Peeps Cereal and Cocoa Puffs? I'm open to anything here!

🐤 Peeps cereal is returning for Easter, but they’re hopping into stores now! We got these from Target. • 🥣 Those that remember this marshmallow flavored cereal with marshmallows may recognize that this batch appears to be different than last year’s version. They swapped the regular white marshmallows with colorful assorted Peeps shaped marshmallows! Additionally however, the colored loops don’t have the same little white specks glazed on them; and for that; we believe this cereal is a bit toned down from what we remember. Or our brain is just playing tricks on us and they taste the same. That’s how insignificant of a potential difference it is. Nevertheless, the flavor does match a Peep marshmallow and the texture is reminiscent of Apple Jacks. Because this cereal is marshmallow flavored, it could be a fun mix-in to another cereal that could use some marshmallow. 🤔

Keep your eyes on the shelves at your local Target for this guy. I can only imagine you'll be seeing him more and more as we get closer to Easter.

Original: January 16, 2019 1:08 p.m. Cereal has taken a HARD turn from the trying-to-be-healthy schtick into full-on, candy-for-breakfast territory. Case in point: Kellogg's upcoming Peeps cereal, which joins the ranks of Sour Patch Kids, Oreo O’s, and Nilla Banana Pudding cereals in our beloved cereal aisle.

While the product isn't listed on Target's website yet, shoppers have already spotted it in select stores. The cereal is currently rolling out in grocery stores across the U.S. and will be on shelves while supplies last, Kellogg's confirmed to Delish.

Per photos of the box, the cereal is marshmallow flavored AND has marshmallow pieces. What else would you expect from a Peeps cereal? The cereal pieces are that classic cereal yellowy-tan, blue, and pink. The MnmTwinz, who reviewed the cereal, describe it as having the same texture as Apple Jacks, with a taste just like Peeps marshmallows—minus the sugar crystals.

Kellogg’s Peeps cereal is out now! You heard that right. Marshmallow flavored cereal with marshmallows! The cereal has got the same texture as Apple Jacks but literally does taste like Peeps Marshmallows; just without the sugar crystals. It’s strange but it works! The sweetness is a nice balance, not too sweet but not bland. And because it all tastes like marshmallow, you can mix it with nearly any other cereal that you feel needs marshmallow in it. 👀 • 📍 Found this on a pallet last night at Target. It had no aisle location, perhaps because it isn’t Easter time yet, so it might have gotten back stocked. Another Instagram user likened them to Golden Oreos, with a similar vanilla taste, and noted the colors became more vibrant after milk was poured in.

For the truly marshmallow obsessed, may I suggest drinking some coffee with Peeps creamer while you enjoy your new favorite cereal? You could even put it IN your cereal, if you're feeling really frisky.
