Pegura a double winner, Eddies third at Wolverine track & field meet

PAW PAW — Edwardsburg's Jacob Pegura was a double winner Saturday at the Wolverine Conference high school track and field meet.

Pegura won the 110-meter hurdles and the high jump while helping the Eddies to a third-place boys finish. Pegura also finished second in the 300-meter hurdles and ran a leg on Edwardsburg's second-place 800-meter relay team. He was joined by Isaiyah Swartz, Noah Shepard and Braiden Domer on the relay team.

Edwardsburg's 1,600-meter relay team of Kaleb Brown, Shepard, Kya Bryant and Dylan Leep was also second.

Larson Fessenden of Edwardsburg was second in the discus and third in the shot put. Defending state champ Luke Stowasser of Edwardsburg was second to Pegura in the high jump.

Niles ended seventh in the league meet, but did have its 400-meter relay team of Julian Means-Lewellen, Peyton Gordon, Kimoni McClean and Antwone Whitelow end up second.

The area's best girls finish came from Marika Ruppart of Niles in the high jump and Edwardsburg's Olivia Hansen in the pole vault. Both were second.
