Pekin business auctioning off items with proceeds going to United Way

The auction signs around the Pekin Insurance agency on Parkway Drive may lead to some misconceptions that the facility is closing its doors. But Pekin Insurance marketing service manager Jerry Doll said that is not the case.

“We are not going out of business and we are not selling the building,” Doll said. “Due to more and more employees moving to a remote schedule, we find ourselves with excess of vehicles, desks, and other office equipment to get rid of.”

In April, all Parkway employees who were still working on-site were moved to the corporate headquarters on Court Street, leaving several items that are no longer needed, Doll added.

The Parkway location will continue to serve as an emergency operations center and disaster headquarters.

Pekin Insurance will dispose of the items in a public auction beginning at 10 a.m. Aug. 5 at 120 N. Parkway  Dr., Pekin.

The company will donate 20 percent of the proceeds to the United Way in conjunction with Pekin Insurance’s employee-sponsored United Way Week.
