Peloton recalls 2.2 million bikes. Riders suffered cuts, bruises and a broken wrist

A stationary bike shouldn’t break and send the rider tumbling to the floor. That’s why 2.2 million Peloton Bike Model PL01 machines got recalled Thursday.

“The bike’s seat post assembly can break during use, posing fall and injury hazards to the user,” the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recall notice stated.

And, the notice adds, Peloton knows of 35 times the seat post broke, “including 13 reports of injuries, including a fractured wrist, lacerations and bruises” from riders falling.
