Pen Air Share It program members donate over $5,300 to the Santa Rosa Education Foundation

Members of Pen Air Credit Union's Share It program have contributed over $5,300 to support the Santa Rosa Education Foundation this year.

Through the Share It program, Pen Air donates 1 cent for every signature-based debit card transaction made by participating members at no cost to the members. This initiative allows members to extend their support to teachers in Santa Rosa County, Escambia County, or Baldwin County, Alabama.

Share It funds are being utilized to strengthen Santa Rosa Education Foundation's recognition and retention programs, including Teacher Grants and Teacher of the Year. Last year, the Teacher Grant program awarded $55,000 to Santa Rosa County District Schools teachers for innovative projects spanning STEM Education, Literacy, Career & Technical Education, and Artistic Literacy. The foundation's goal is to distribute $60,000 in grants this year.

The Teacher of the Year program allows SREF to acknowledge and reward exceptional educators across the district, culminating in the Golden Apple Awards on March 8 at the Saenger Theater. This celebration highlights the Florida Teacher of the Year nominee, individual school representatives, and all educators in the district, showcasing their rich learning environments.

The Share It program's total contribution for the 2023-2024 school year reached an impressive $22,054.71 across the three participating districts, providing invaluable resources for educational enhancement.

Junior League of Pensacola hosts diaper drive-up distribution

The Junior League of Pensacola recently announced that it will be hosting a diaper drive-up distribution event from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3 outside the Junior League of Pensacola office at 2016 W. Garden St. while supplies last.

To ensure participant safety, this event cannot accommodate walk-up participants. No registration is needed to receive diapers and wipes. Parents and caregivers will have the option of choosing the size of diapers while supplies last.

Organizers are unable to accommodate special requests in diaper brands.  Pull-ups, training underwear, or adult size diapers will not be available. Each parent and caregiver will be given 50 diapers and a pack of wipes per child. The child does not need to be present.

Currently, one in two U.S. families with young children struggle to afford diapers. Diaper need is the lack of a sufficient amount of diapers to keep a baby clean, dry and healthy. The Junior League of Pensacola recognizes the need for this service, as many families in the community struggle to afford this essential item.
