The Penguins canceled their morning skate as a result, due to league protocols. Crosby, 33, has seven goals and 11 assists in 20 games this season.

Pittsburgh is fifth in the East Division, behind Philadelphia, New York (Islanders), Boston and Washington.

The Capitals aren’t scheduled to face the Penguins again until April 29 and May 1.
