Penguins will face Rangers in first round of Stanley Cup playoffs

The Pittsburgh Penguins are continuing their playoff streak for the 16th consecutive season.

The Penguins will face the Rangers in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

The Penguins hold the longest consecutive playoff streak in North American professional sports.

A 6-3 win on April 14 against the Islanders put the Penguins in a good position for the playoffs, sitting 5 points ahead of the Washington Capitals headed into the post-season.

The Penguins’ 16 years of playoff appearances have come with four trips to the Stanley Cup Final, as well as three Stanley Cup Championships.

Since the 2006-07 season, no NHL team has more playoff victories than the Penguins, according to a release from the team.
